Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also known as Bangabandhu (Friend of Bengal), was a visionary leader and statesman who played a pivotal role in the struggle for independence of Bangladesh. He was born on March 17, 1920, in Tungi Para, a small village in the Faridpur district of British India (now in Bangladesh).
